Rick Jacobo

Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

I design and operate resilient cloud platforms.

Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with 15+ years building scalable AWS systems, automation frameworks, and production SaaS platforms across enterprise and independent environments.

My work spans multi-region deployments, serverless architectures, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps automation. I’ve led cross-functional initiatives, reduced cloud spend, and delivered systems that align engineering capabilities with business objectives.

I also design and operate independent SaaS platforms on AWS. Postastiq and Strēt are production systems I built end-to-end, including infrastructure architecture, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and ongoing operations.

Recently, I’ve been exploring agentic automation and AI-assisted infrastructure tooling to reduce operational overhead and accelerate engineering workflows.

I’m particularly interested in resilient platform design and enabling engineering teams to move faster while maintaining operational excellence.

Products & Platforms

Postastiq
Minimal blogging platform · Self-hosted and SaaS

Postastiq is a modern blogging platform designed for simple publishing with minimal operational overhead. It runs as a single binary backed by SQLite and can be deployed quickly using Docker or other lightweight infrastructure.

In addition to the self-hosted version, Postastiq also includes a SaaS platform where individual blogs can be deployed as managed sites. Infrastructure is designed to support repeatable deployments and multi-tenant hosting.

Example SaaS deployment: nyc.sites.postastiq.com

stack: Go · SQLite · Docker · SaaS multi-tenant deployments · Infrastructure as Code
Strēt
Serverless SaaS platform for food trucks

Strēt is a serverless SaaS platform built on AWS to help food truck operators manage locations, menus, and customer engagement.

The system was designed end-to-end around AWS serverless services with a focus on scalability and low-maintenance infrastructure.

Example product entry point: join.stretapp.com

stack: AWS Lambda (PowerShell) · API Gateway · DynamoDB · S3 · CloudFront · Route53

Writing

Outside of Work

Outside of engineering, I enjoy making pizza, visiting great pizzerias, street photography, and experimenting with infrastructure in my home lab.
